Land and Economy Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. We are mindful of broken covenants, and we want to continue striving to make things right. We would also like to acknowledge those who came here forcibly, particularly as a result of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Therefore, we honour and pay tribute to the ancestors of African origin and descent. We would also like to acknowledge immigrants, refugees, and the migration of different people because their resources and labour were and are used to create the economy that we all take advantage of today. We ultimately want to build respectful relationships, and acknowledgement is an important part of this. It honours the authentic history of North America, and it tells the story of the creation of this country that has historically been missing.
